# Telegram Notifications

> Get instant Telegram alerts every time a submission comes in.

## Overview

Submito can send a Telegram message to you every time a new submission is received. Once connected, notifications arrive in real time — no need to check your inbox.

## How to connect

1. Go to your [dashboard settings](https://submito.dev/dashboard/settings?tab=notifications) and open the **Notifications** tab.
2. Click **Connect Telegram** — you will be redirected to the Submito bot on Telegram (`@SubmitoNotifBot`).
3. Press **Start** in Telegram to complete the connection.
4. Come back to the settings page — your account will be marked as connected automatically.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The connection is polled in the background for up to 3 minutes. If it doesn't connect, refresh the page and try again.

## Managing your connection

Once connected you have three controls:

| Action | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Enable / Disable** | Toggle Telegram alerts on or off without disconnecting |
| **Send test message** | Sends a sample notification to verify everything is working |
| **Disconnect** | Removes the connection from your account |

## Notification format

Each Telegram message includes:

* The **form slug** the submission came from
* All **submitted fields** and their values
* The **submission ID** for reference

## Troubleshooting

> [accordion] I clicked Connect but nothing happened
>
> Make sure you pressed **Start** in the Telegram chat with `@SubmitoNotifBot`. The page polls for confirmation for 3 minutes — if it times out, click Connect again.

> [accordion] I'm not receiving notifications
>
> 1. Check that Telegram notifications are **enabled** in your settings (toggle is on)
> 2. Send a **test message** from the settings page to confirm the connection is live
> 3. Make sure your submission returned `{ "ok": true }` with status `201` — no notification is sent if the submission failed
> 4. Check your [usage dashboard](https://submito.dev/dashboard/usage) — you may have hit your monthly quota
